Wilmington, NC - The Wilmington Sharks of the Coastal Plain League will open the 2009 season on the road at the Thomasville Hi-Toms on Wednesday, May 27th. The Sharks home opener will be Thursday, May 28th when they host the Columbia Blowfish at the “Shark Tank.” The 2009 Sharks schedule features seven “Thirsty Thursdays” and eight weekend dates. We would like to thank you for making 2008 the best season in Sharks history. This year featured an exciting atmosphere and a new attitude at the Shark Tank. Over 50,000 fans attended a Sharks game in 2008 for an average of 1,650 a night! We had three crowds of over 3,000 fans and one of our best crowds in history with nearly 3,500 in attendance on July 31st.
The Steve Miller Band, will be making their historic first play in the Wilmington area since their career began 41 years ago. The bands musical styling’s are led by Steve Miller, a living legend of Rock n' Roll proportions known for hits such as Fly Like an Eagle, Rock'N Me, Abracadabra, Jet Airliner, and the rock anthem The Joker.
