VanDerzee Resigns as Wilmington Sharks GM Print E-mail
Tue, August 17 2004

Wilmington Wilmington Sharks General Manager Curt VanDerzee announced today that he would be stepping down as GM of the Sharks.

VanDerzee has been involved with the Sharks since their inception in 1997.  He was General Manager of the Sharks for the first four years, left in 2001 to start-up the Fayetteville franchise, and returned to Wilmington in 2003 as the Sharks Vice-President and General Manager.

I am very grateful for the opportunity I have had with the Sharks and the Coastal Plain League.  It has been a wonderful eight years and I have been very fortunate to work with very talented people.  I have enjoyed watching the transformation that has taken place at Legion Sports Complex over the past few years.  It has been very rewarding for me to be a part of the league and watch it grow from six cities in eastern North Carolina in 1997 to the overwhelming success it is today!

VanDerzee has decided to pursue other business opportunities and after eight years in the Coastal Plain League is looking forward to new challenges.  The Sharks will be making an announcement regarding his successor in the next couple of days.
