The Steve Miller Band, will be making their historic first play in the Wilmington area since their career began 41 years ago. The bands musical styling’s are led by Steve Miller, a living legend of Rock n' Roll proportions known for hits such as Fly Like an Eagle, Rock'N Me, Abracadabra, Jet Airliner, and the rock anthem The Joker. Steve Miller's entire repertoire plays like your favorite I-Pod mix with very few songs that you do not know. The Steve Miller Band will roll into town Sunday October 26th for a show at 7pm (gates will open at 5pm). The Steve Miller Band will be the first to play in the seasonal amphitheatre that IBX Promotions is creating. The seated amphitheatre, though temporary, will boast the same amenities that you would expect from a permanent facility in Charlotte or Raleigh. The amphitheatre will feature only 6,000 seats and tickets are expected to move quickly. Steve Millers' blues rock style of guitar was honed as a teenager in Chicago jamming with the likes of Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Buddy Guy, and his godfather Les Paul who encouraged the young rock bluesman to pursue a career in music. The current band lineup includes Gordon Knudtson, Billy Peterson, Kenny Lee Lewis, legendary harmonica player and long time SMB collaborator Norton Buffalo, legendary soul singer Sonny Charles, Joseph Wooten (Brother to Victor Wooten and Future Man Wooten of Bela' Fleck and the Flecktones) and of course Steve Miller himself. Other Steve Miller Band hits include Take the Money and Run, Jungle Love, Heart Like a Wheel and Swingtown. This concert is the first of this scale planned for the Cape Fear region by IBX Promotions and is an opportunity to catch a legend in our own backyard, with many more to come. The Blackhorn Bar and Kitchen, in Carolina Beach, is the only permanent local ticket outlet at the moment. However, Friday August 29th and Saturday August 30th a special box office will be open at the Legion sports complex from 10am to 4pm. |
