Mustering only two runs on just four hits, the Sharks dropped their first Sunday contest, and sixth straight overall, 8-2 to the last place Columbia Blowfish. Trailing 1-0 after three, Wilmignton manufactured a run of their own in the fourth. An error put Jesse Bosnik(St. Bonaventure) on to start the frame. After two walks the bases were loaded for Greg Bachman(Austin Peay) who lofted a sacrifice fly to right to tie things at one. Starter Adam Schrader(SW Minnesota State) ran into trouble in the bottom of the fourth as the Blowfish hung four runs on the Sharks sending eight to the plate. Schrader left after five, giving up five runs on six hits, punching out seven. Another run came home for the Sharks on a Bosnik RBI single in the fifth, but Wilmington could pull no closer as the Blowfish tacked on three in the eighth to seal the final margin. Garrett Cooper(St. Louis), building on his success in the Catawba Valley exhibition, threw two scoreless innings. Christian Overstreet(Missouri State) burned up the base paths at Capital City Stadium, swiping three bags on the night. The Sharks will be back at the "Shark Tank" for a Mother's Monday against the Blowfish again. Kids get a free meal, adults get all you can eat for just ten dollars. Gates open at 6 p.m. with first pitch set for 7 p.m. The Wilmington Sharks are members of the summer collegiate Coastal Plain League, the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league.
