The Wilmington Sharks announce today that they have signed two players for the 2007 Season. They are pleased to announce that Greg Ihlenburg from Reinhardt College and Alex MacKenzie from Canisius College have joined the team.

Greg Ihlenburg, 6-1/190, a junior from Reinhardt College will play outfield for the sharks this season. He is from Roswell, GA and was named to the 2006 Daktronics-NAIA Baseball Scholar-Athletes All-American 1st Team. Also in 2006, Ihlenburg was named to the SSAC Baseball All-Conference 1st Team, the SSAC Academic All-Conference Team, as well as being named SSAC Baseball Player of the Week.

Alex MacKenzie, 6-0/180, is a sophomore returning to the Sharks for another season from Canisius College and will be pitching again in the 2007 season. He is from Keswick, Ontario where he attended Keswick High School and played in numerous high-level tournaments, including the 2002 Ontario Summer Game and the 2004 Oklahoma Junior Sunbelt Classic. Last season, he threw 24 innings in 10 appearances on the mound for Canisius.

The coastal plain league is the nation’s premier college summer baseball league, featuring 14 teams playing in three states (The Carolinas and Virginia). The league is certified by the NCAA and Major League Baseball, and gives college standouts the chance to refine their skills with wooden bats during the summer months. The CPL brings fans all of the fun of minor league baseball during a 56 schedule game June through August. Tickets for the 2007 season are now on sale at the Shark’s office.
