The Wilmington Sharks announced today that they have signed two players from George Mason University, Scott Krieger and Brent Weiss. They also have returning player Patrick Oates coming from North Carolina A&T.

Scott Krieger, 6-2/210, a sophomore from George Mason University has been signed to the Sharks for 2007 season and is off to a very strong start this spring. He is from Towson, Maryland where he played first base for Calvert Hall High School. Krieger has recently tied two School Records in a 22-8 win over Charleston Southern.

Brent Weiss, a 6-0/180 sophomore, plays infield for George Mason. He is from Suffern, New York where he played for St. Joseph Regional High School. Last season at George Mason, he played in 41 games, all starts for the Patriots. He had 34 starts at shortstop and seven at second base while batting .261 with 36 hits including nine doubles, one triple, 19 RBI and 12 runs.

Patrick Oates, 6-7/250, is returning to the Wilmington Sharks this season. He is a junior and plays outfield for North Carolina A&T. With his extreme size, the Sharks look forward to another powerful season from Oates. He led the Sharks in homeruns last season while playing his natural DH position.

The coastal plain league is the nation’s premier college summer baseball league, featuring 14 teams playing in three states (The Carolinas and Virginia). The league is certified by the NCAA and Major League Baseball, and gives college standouts the chance to refine their skills with wooden bats during the summer months.
