The Wilmington Sharks have signed a duo from Campbell University for the upcoming season. Wilmington native, Hunter Ford, a junior and Graham Fronk, a sophomore hailing from Charlotte are the latest additions to the 2009 Sharks roster. Ford, a left-handed pitcher, finished last season with 70 innings pitched in 27 games with a 4.50 ERA while holding opponents to a .284 batting average. In high school, Ford was named to the N.C. Preps All-State team and was an All-Conference selection for the Mid Eastern Conference He finished his junior season at Ashley High School with a 1.14 ERA and the school record for most shutouts in a season.
Fronk, an outfielder, finished last season with a .265 batting average after 155 times at the plate. This season, he has already recorded nine RBI, matching his number from last season after only 41 at bats. In high school at Charlotte Christian Academy, Fronk was a three-time 3A state champion, first team All-Conference and All-State selection. He batted .301 with 20 stolen bases, had 46 RBI in his high school career and was voted to the 2007 All-Charlotte Area High School Baseball Super Team. |
