Wilmington, NC - The Wilmington Sharks have officially named Daniel Hersey as their head coach for the 2008 season. Hersey is an assistant coach at St. Leo University in St. Leo, Florida where he handles the pitching staff and the conditioning program. He is also in charge of St. Leo's recruiting. Hersey pitched for three seasons at Rollins College and one season for the State University of West Georgia. He also was a four year stand out at Key West High School. "I would like to thank Darrell and Lew Handelsman for giving me the opportunity to manage their Wilmington organization. I look forward to putting a good product on the field for the fans of Wilmington in hopes they will enjoy a fun and exciting summer of baseball," said Hersey. This will be Hersey's first experience as a head coach at the collegiate level but the Sharks are confident he'll get the job done. "Daniel is coming from a strong program at St. Leo," said Sharks General Manager Blaine Smith. "We're confident he will put an exciting product on the field for us next year." |
