Though they scored late to draw close, the Sharks came up short in their 2009 season finale, 5-3 to the Columbia Blowfish.

The game, a continuation of a rain suspended game on July 13th, started in the second with no score. Hunter Ford(Campbell) took the hill today but allowed a four runs on five hits through his four frames of work to take the loss and move to 0-2 on the season.

At the plate the Sharks battled back when Adam Gray(Mercyhurst) doubled in a run in the eighth. Andrew Guerra(St. Louis) chipped in a 2-4 night as did Alex Hill(UNC-Wilmington). The Sharks final record in 2009 stands at 19-36.

Trailing 1-0 into the bottom of the third, Hill led off with a single. After an error allowed Trevor Willis(Iowa) to reach safely, two fielders choices tied the game at one as Hill scored.

The lead did not last long as the Sharks again trailed 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth. WIth two down, Greg Bachman(Austin Peay) was hit by the pitch. He moved all the way to third on a single off the bat of Drew Wingo(Presbyterian) when the ball was thrown away by the short stop. Then Hill lashed his second single of the night to make it 2-2.

It was not long before the Sharks trailed again, this time 4-2, before Gray's booming double to plate his 14th RBI of the season.

The Sharks would like to thank all of the fans for their constant support throughout 2009. It has been a great season out at the Shark Tank and our fans and sponsors are a big part of that. We hope to see everyone back out at the ball games in 2010.
