With all the furor and frenzy around the All-Star game, never fear, Shark Bits are still here.
The Sharks head on the road for the final two before the big break, but have plenty of home games left to play. A couple of Sharks have been consistently good all season, one is an All-Star, while another somehow isn't.
Tickets are still available for the All-Star game and Fan Fest. For more info call the Sharks at (910) 343.5621. Click and dial at the same time to read "Shark Bits" while it rings.
Last Game Synopsis: Four runs in the second inning by the
Tobs proved to be too much for the Sharks to overcome
Thursday night. In a game that started over an hour late,
the Sharks picked up just two in the eighth to fall 5-2 to
Wilson. Greg Bachman drove in the first run with an RBI
double, his second hit of the night, while Jesse Bosnik had
three base hits as well.
Struggling With Tobs: Last night’s lost left the Sharks
looking up at a 1-and-9 deficit against the Tobs in the
season series this year. The Sharks beat Wilson for the
only time this season back on the third of June. Wilmington
has yet to pick up a win on the road against Wilson and
will have their last shot at Fleming Stadium tonight.
Because He Won’t, We Will: Despite having the fourth lowest
ERA in the league over more innings than any All-Star,
tonight’s starter J.C. Casey was not a 2009 CPL All-Star
selection. Casey though, never the type to complain,
instead will undoubtedly continue to pitch the way he has
all season, namely, brilliantly. Coming off an eight inning
performance that saw a 19 inning scoreless streak come to
an end, Casey will be making his ninth start of the season.
Mr. Consistent: Shark All-Star Jesse Bosnik has been a steady
bat in the line-up all season. Back over the the .300 mark
after three hits last night, Bosnik has had at least one
base hit in eight of his last ten ball games, including the
last five straight. While he has just seven extra base hits
on the season, his 25 RBI leads the club for 2009. Bosnik’s
49 hits also place him third overall in the league in that
category.
So Long Shark Tank, For Now: With two games on the road before
the All-Star break, the Sharks will not see the friendly
confines of their home park until next Thursday. On the
season the Sharks will play six more home dates, including
double headers on two of those dates.
