The 2009 CPL-All Star Game and Fan Fest is just five days away. If you haven't heard, all of that fun will be at the "Shark Tank" right here in Wilmington.

Adam Eggemeyer hit two deep fly balls last night, one fair, one foul, in a tune-up for his All-Star Home Run Derby appearance. Meanwhile, the Sharks have been easily close enough to turn losses to wins more often than not, but a single digit has stood in the way.

Thirsty? Try the "Shark Tank" tonight for "Thirsty Thursday" presented by Front Street Brewery. Beers and sodas are a dollar all night long. To help work up a thirst, take in all the info on this latest edition of "Shark Bits."

Last Game Synopsis: Though leading at one point 2-0 on the
strength of two home runs, the Sharks left eight runners on
and made four errors in a 6-2 loss in Florence Wednesday
night. Adam Eggemeyer and Christian Overstreet both had
solo home runs. Ryne Harper started and went five innings,
allowing three runs on four hits.

That’s Mr. All-Star To You: Tonight’s starter Daniel Cropper
will represent the Sharks on the National All-Star team in
next Tuesday’s game. In the more immediate future he will
take his 2.18 ERA into his ninth start of the season.
Cropper has struck out 52 batters in just over 53 innings
this year and held opponents to a .188 batting average. In
two starts against Wilson this year Cropper has allowed
just a single unearned run while striking out 10.

One Run Woes: To go with their league leading eight extra
inning contests, the Sharks have also played in 11 one run
games with a 3-and-8 record. The Sharks have dropped four
straight ball-games decided by just a single tally.
Contributing to the tight ball-games, as a team the Sharks
have now left an even 300 runners on base in ‘09.

Wins Hard to Come By: The Sharks next two starters, Cropper
tonight and J.C. Casey tomorrow, have a combined ERA of
2.08 in more than 113 innings. Yet both are still looking
for just their third win. In the last two starts for each
pitcher the Sharks offense has averaged just two and a half
runs per game of support for the co-aces of this 2009
staff.

Way Back And Gone: We all knew he was an All-Star starter,
now we learn that left-handed slugger Adam Eggemeyer will
represent the Sharks in the 2009 Home Run Derby as well.
With another deep drive to his credit last night, Eggemeyer
leads the club with six round trippers on the season. He
will get the home field advantage in the derby against 15
other CPL sluggers looking to knock out the walls of the
“Shark Tank.”
