The sun is shining and drying out the "Shark Tank" plenty for tonight's exhibition with the Catawba Valley Stars.
Exhibition or no, the Sharks dedicated media relations staff has compiled everything from the dish on a starting pitcher on the mend to a curse to rival the Bambino's and the goat's.
It's been shown, or at least speculated, that "Shark Bits" are good for the digestion. You may need it tonight on a "Two for Tuesday" where tickets and hot dogs are both two, two, TWO, for the price of one.
Last Game Synopsis: One inning a game doth not make. That is
all the Sharks were able to manage last night as the
heavens burst forth rain over the Cape Fear River Basin,
raining out the Sharks and Blowfish after a scoreless
frame.
Catawba Valley Curse: This will be the second time the Sharks
play the Catawba club this year and things have not gone
well since the last time. Prior to the first meeting on
June 15th the Sharks were 9-7, since, the club has won just
four games and lost 13. In a game marked at times by
superstition, beating the Stars again could work as a
double reverse to break the curse.
12 innings, 11 innings, 1 inning: Well that was shorter. For the
second straight Monday the Sharks were forced to call a
game just after it started due to rain. The previous rain
out was the Sharks first of the season and will be made up
in a double header just after the All-Star break. Last
night’s rain out will be made up in a double header when
Columbia next comes to town on the last day of the season.
Schrader’s Back: After missing his last two starts, Adam
Schrader will try to work things back out against Catawba
Valley tonight. Arm soreness forced Schrader to miss time,
he spent the first part of the season in the number one
spot in the rotation. Working regularly Schrader compiled a
5.46 ERA in just over 31 innings of work. The exhibition
will allow the SW Minnesota Mustang to work his arm into
shape then jump back into the rotation.
All Star Coaching: The Sharks Jake Tenhouse will make an
appearance at the All-Star game as a coach for the National
squad. Tenhouse will be coaching along side fellow CPL
South coaches Wes Davis and Jeff Steele. The final All-Star
rosters will be released Wednesday when we will learn how
many and which of his own Sharks will join Tenhouse
representing the host team at next week’s “Showcase at the
‘Shark Tank.’”
