The Sharks picked up four hits and a run in the first inning, but were held to just one hit over the next eight as they fell to Florence 3-1.

Back to back hits to lead off the ballgame put two on for Greg Bachman(Austin Peay). The Sharks third baseman delivered a single up the middle to stake the Sharks and starter Daniel Cropper(UNC-Wilmington) to a 1-0 lead. The Sharks left the bases loaded in the frame.

Cropper was hurt on the long ball in the friendliest of CPL confines at American Legion Field. Barrett Klienknect popped two out, a solo shot and a two run shot, both to left field. Those were the only runs Cropper allowed on the night to take the tough loss in eight frames striking out two and walking two.

A single by Andrew Guerra(St. Louis) to load the bases in the first was the last time a Shark reached base until Allen King(UNC-Wilmington) singled to lead off the eighth. The knock would prove to be their last as King was left at second and Wilmington went went 1-2-3 in the ninth.

David Haselden started and threw eight of nine scoreless frames. He went a complete game allowing five hits and striking out 10. Cropper moves to 2-3 on the season as the Sharks drop to 2-7 on the second half.

The Sharks will be back home to face Wilson Saturday night. It's "Alternative Transportation Night" to cap off Green Week.

Save fuel, ride the Wave Transit bus to the game. Buses will be running from Independence Mall throughout the game until all the fans are back to their car. Its also a Saturday Night Fireworks Extravaganza, so join us for all the fun as the gates open at 6 p.m. and the game starts at 7 p.m.

The Wilmington Sharks are members of the summer collegiate Coastal Plain League, the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league.
