Every day via "Shooting the Shark," the new Wilmington Sharks blog, the Sharks' crack media relations staff has posted the latest edition of "Shark Bits" available in the game notes each night at the ballpark.

To meet the increased public demand shown here at our media relations office and to make it a little easier for Sharks Fans to make the transition to Sharks Insiders, "Shark Bits" will now be found right here on the homepage.

Shark Bits

Last Game Synopsis: All good things end, and bad things do
too. The Sharks proved that with a 4-3, losing streak
snapping, win over the Columbia Blowfish Monday night.
Daniel Cropper started and went six strong. Back to back
two RBI singles from Adam Eggemeyer and Jesse Bosnik gave
the Sharks a four run fourth and the pitching of Cropper,
McGrath, Powell and Toler, made it stand up.

We Go As You Go Amigos: Adam Eggemeyer and Jesse Bosnik have
been batting third and fourth in the order for most of the
year now. A pattern has emerged that shows when those two
are rolling, the Sharks are winning. Of the club’s ten wins
Bosnik and Eggemeyer have held the middle of the line up
down for seven of them and are posting a combined .423
average with 18 runs scored and 22 RBI.

False Staff Impression: On paper the Sharks pitching would seem
to be middle of the road. A team ERA of 3.58 and a 10-13
record would seem to bear that out. But a breakdown of the
starting staff tells the story of five guys with a combined
2.87 ERA with seven wins and a complete game. The starters
have held opponents to a .219 batting average while
striking out just under eight batters per nine innings.

Palmetto Dominance: Of the four other CPL South division
teams the Sharks hold winning margins against only the two
from South Carolina. The Sharks dropped their last contest
to the Redwolves of Florence, but won the first three
straight. Meanwhile the Sharks have won three games at home
against the Columbia Blowfish while they have dropped two
contests in the Capitol City.

First Half Home Stretch: With five games left to play the
Sharks are mathematically still in the first half division
race. Four games out of first, the Sharks will play only
divisional foes after tonight’s game against Gastonia. The
Sharks will open the second half next Tuesday at home.
