Fort Mill, SC – Children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses who wouldn’t otherwise have an opportunity to experience camp will benefit from a fund-raising golf car raffle with proceeds going to Victory Junction Gang.

Victory Junction Gang Camp enriches the lives of children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses by providing life-changing camping experiences that are exciting, fun, and empowering, in a safe and medically sound environment. Victory Junction was founded in 2004 by NASCAR driver Kyle Petty and his wife, Pattie, in honor of their late son, Adam. Since then, more than 6,000 children’s lives have been enriched by camping experiences at Victory Junction.

At the first weekend game of the Wilmington Sharks season on May 30, Ali Young, an 11-year-old Victory Junction camper will throw out the first pitch.  Ali, who lives with epilepsy, will visit VJGC for the second time this summer.  Ali’s parents, Porter and Vance Young, as well as her two brothers, will cheer Ali on, as she throws a strike for Victory Junction.  At the June 7 Sharks game, camper Justin Verzaal will make his pitching debut for camp.  Justin is a 12-year-old camper with Muscular Dystrophy who visited Victory Junction last year for the first time and will return this summer for another fun-filled session.  Justin’s parents, Christian and Paul Verzaal, and his brother and sister will also join in the fun at the Wilmington Sharks game.

Golf car raffle tickets may be purchased for $10 each or 3 for $25 at Sharonview Federal Credit Union, located at the corner of Oleander Drive and Independence Blvd (near Independence Mall).
