The Sharks had the tying runner in scoring position in the bottom of the 12th Saturday, but the final out was recorded and the Sharks lost to the Tobs 5-4 at the "Shark Tank."

Runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth for the Sharks were enough to keep things knotted after nine innings. The Sharks put runners on in the ninth and each of the extra frames but could not score.

Tyler Andersen allowed two in the top of the 12th to take his second loss of the season as the Sharks drop to 2-8 on the second half of play.

Trailing 2-0 Andrew Guerra(St. Louis) picked up the first of his two doubles on the night to lead off the sixth. He came home on a two out knock from Adam Eggemeyer(SIU-Edwardsville). The RBI single was one of three on the night for Eggemeyer.

Again Guerra was involved in the scoring the very next inning. With two down and a runner on third, Guerra pounded hissecond double to left center to pick up his first RBI and tie things at two.

A run off of D.J. Nordquist(Southern Poly) in the top of the eighth had the Sharks trailing 3-2 into the bottom of the frame. Greg Bachman(Austin Peay) worked a lead walk then stole second with one down. Adam Gray(Mercyhurst) another Shark with multiple hits, drove Bachman home with a single to the same left center gap.

The clutch hits were not to be found late however as the Sharks left two on in the ninth, three in the tenth, two in the 11th and one in the 12th. On the night Wilmington struck out 15 times, seven on called third strikes.

Pitching was a bright spot for the Sharks. Chris Kennedy(Davidson) turned in his best start of the season throwing six innings of two run ball, allowing just four hits. Hunter Ford(Campbell) extended his personal scoreless innings streak to 6.2, while Ryan McGrath(Wake Forest) set down all nine men he faced in three innings of relief, recording four strike outs.

Wilmington will be on the road Sunday in Columbia, but back home for a Mother's Monday against the Columbia Blowfish presented by North Chase Spalon. Come on out as Mom's will recieve gifts and special offers all night long. Gates open at 6 p.m. game starts at 7 p.m.

The Wilmington Sharks are members of the summer collegiate Coastal Plain League, the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. In 2008 the Sharks drew more than 50,000 fans to the “Shark Tank” for an average of 1,650 per game.
