The Wilmington Sharks used a huge performance by UNC Sophmore Matt Cox to dispose of the Florence Red Wolves 5-2 on Monday night.  Cox, the Sharks starting pitcher, went five innings giving up only one earned run and also hit a double and two singles on his way to a 3 for 4 performance at the plate.  Cox, normally unable to hit due to the DH rule, took advantage of a depleted Sharks line-up and got the most out of his only at-bats of the season.  Sharks catcher Nate Recknagel also provided some excitement by connecting on his 8th homerun of the season, a towering solo shot to left field.

The Sharks close out the season on Wednesday night at Buck Hardee Field against the New Bern River Rats.  Game time is 7:00 pm.
