Check out this week's Hiro of the week, Presbyterian junior Cory Lyda!
The Wilmington Sharks have named centerfielder Cory Lyda the “Hiro of the Week.” The Presbyterian product earned the distinction this week scoring 7 runs, picking up 8 base hits and playing an ever solid centerfield. Lyda proved himself even more off the field helping to keep up team morale. “Cory has proven himself as a leader with his play on the field. He plays the game hard, day in and day out. He leads by his dedication to the game”, says head coach Daniel Hersey. Lyda was right in the middle of two of the most exciting Shark wins all season Friday and Saturday night. In extra innings against the Redwolves, Lyda led off the 11th with a double and came around to plate the game winning run. The very next night with the Sharks trailing it 1-0, Lyda led off the bottom of the 9th with a single and came around to tie the score. Lyda is a perfect 6-6 on stolen base attempts this season helping the Sharks aggressive base running attack. The 5’10” junior is also tied for first on the team with three triples on the season and is third on the club in RBI’s.
