Wilmington, NC - Former Wilmington Sharks outfielder John Raynor was recently named Most Valuable Player of the South Atlantic League.  Raynor, now a Greensboro Grasshopper, the Single A affilliate of the Florida Marlins, lead the league this summer with an impressive 110 runs scored.  He also finished second in the league with a .333 batting average.  As a Sharks player, Raynor served as a great team leader and an important asset.  Sharks Assistant GM Chris Reavis was the game-day opperations manager the year Raynor played with the Sharks.  "Right away I could tell that Raynor was going to be a valuable asset to our team and I knew he had a bright future" said Reavis.  Raynor was also a four year standout at UNC-W.
