It took going to their 12th extra innning contest of the season, and the ejection of their coach, but the Wilmington Sharks came away with a walk off win Thursday night, 2-1 over the Florence Redwolves.

The hero of the night, Alex Hill(UNC-Wilmington). The Seahawk stepped in with two on and one down in the bottom of the tenth and lofted the game winning double to left, sending the "Shark Tank" faithful home happy. Three hits in the inning came after head coach Jake Tenhouse brought life to the team after getting tossed arguing a reversed call.

It was a Seahawk kind of night, as Daniel Cropper(UNC-Wilmington) held the Redwolves scoreless through six frames on just two hits. In the no decision Cropper struck out five and did not walk a batter.

The walk-off stage was set however by an error and a blown one run lead. Hunter Ford(Campbell) chipped in two and a third innings handing a 1-0 lead over to Ryan McGrath(Wake Forest) with one down in the 9th. An error and a double later, things were tied up at one.

After the Sharks went in order in the bottom of the ninth, McGrath set the Redwolves down in the 10th allowing just a walk. Then the exciting bottom half of the frame began. Lead batter Adam Gray(Mercyhurst) bounded a slow chop to short, the throw was a bit high and appeared to pull the first baseman off the bag and Gray was ruled safe by the base umpire. After an argument from the Florence coach and another chat between umpires, the call was reversed, leading to Tenhouse's ejection.

As soon as the argument ended the Sharks went back to work as Jesse Bosnik(St. Bonaventure) and Andrew Guerra(St. Louis) singled just ahead of Hill's extra base heroics. Mcgrath gets credit for the win, rolling to 3-4 while with his 2.1 scoreless, Ford moves his scoreless relief stretch to 13 innings.

The Sharks will be back home for a big night of baseball Friday. Gates open at 6 p.m. on "Striking Out Cancer" night at the ball park. The entire team will be clad in pink jerseys that will be auctioned off throughout the game, with proceeds going to cancer charities. Its also the final Sharks baseball card giveaway night and the last Sharks pint glass give away night. The game against the Martinsville Mustangs starts at 7 p.m.
