The Sharks made it interesting but took a 7-4 win in eleven against the SwampDogs Sunday afternoon. With a runner on third, one down and two strikes in a tie ball game in the eleventh the Sharks stuck with the squeeze bunt after two missed attempts. Allen King(UNC-Wilmington) did not miss again, delivering a solid bunt to score Jesse Bosnik(St. Bonaventure) with the eventual winning run. Three late runs by the SwampDogs pushed things to extras, spoiling a great outing from Max Friedman(Parkland C.C.). The righty threw six and two thirds allowing three runs on five strike outs and just three hits. A wild eighth inning that started with the Sharks up by one, ended in a tie to send things knotted into the ninth. Neither team scored setting up the need for King's small ball heroics.
The Sharks got on the board early in the second when Alex Hill(UNC-Wilmington) kicked off a big night at the plate blasting an RBI triple to center. Hill doubled in an insurance run in the 11th to give himself two hits and two RBI on the night. Three more runs came home in the third in support of Friedman. With runners on second and third, Bosnik bounded a ball off the tip of the second baseman's glove to bring home two. Then with runners at first and second Adam Eggemeyer(SIU-Edwardsville) in his last game as a Shark, doubled home one more to make it 4-0 Sharks. The Sharks will be on the road until next Thursday, taking on Florence for the final Thirsty Thursday of the year out at the "Shark Tank." The game starts at 7 p.m. with the gates opening at 6 p.m. enjoy dollar beers and dollar soft drinks all night long.
