East Carolina sophomore, Stephen Batts, will return to his native Wilmington to join the Sharks for the second year.

Batts capped off a tremendous 2007 campaign by being named to the 2007 Chapel Hill Regional All-Tournament Team.  During his sophomore season he batted .323 with 15 doubles, 4 triples and 6 home runs.  He also currently holds the longest active hit streak in the nation.

"We are excited to have someone of Stephen's calibre back in Wilmington," said Sharks Head Coach Andrew Wright.  "His competitiveness and leadership are qualities that are hard to find."

Batts will join the Sharks on Thursday against division rival Fayetteville.  First pitch is set for 7:05.  UNC-Chapel Hill RHP Bryant Gaines will make his second start for the Sharks.
