With 11 more base hits Wilmington's hitting ways continued but the pitching faltered late as Wilmington fell 6-4 to Fayetteville Monday night. Adam Eggemeyer(SIU-Edwardsville) kept the Sharks hit parade rolling with a two out solo homer in the first inning. The blast is his second in as many games and had the Sharks up 1-0. Eggemeyer was at it again in the third. With runners on the corners he laced a single to bring home the Sharks second run of the contest putting them up 2-0 in the third. The lead did not last long as Fayetteville scratched across two in the bottom half off starter Adam Schrader(SW Minnesota State). Schrader worked into the sixth giving up three runs, two earned, on four hits striking out three. With things tied at two in the sixth it would be the DH Eggemeyer sparking things with a lead off double. After Jesse Bosnik(St. Bonaventure) singled and stole second he scored behind Eggemeyer on a Kolby Epley(College of Charleston) RBI single. Chris Kennedy(Davidson) had his first shaky appearance and took the loss out of the bullpen spotting the Swampdogs a 6-4 lead into the ninth. Ryan McGrath(Wake Forest) turned in a perfect inning of relief. Wilmington drops to 5-6 on the CPL season with the loss. The Sharks next home game is against the Fayetteville Swampdogs on a Two for Tuesday, June 9th at the Shark Tank. Come out and enjoy two for one tickets and hot dogs all game long. Gates open at 6 p.m. first pitch is at 7. The Wilmington Sharks are members of the summer collegiate Coastal Plain League, the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. In 2008 the Sharks drew more than 50,000 fans to the “Shark Tank” for an average of 1,650 per game.
