Wilmington put the tying run on second base in the bottom of the ninth Saturday night but could not fully overcome a 3-0 lead by Fayetteville and fell 3-2. J.C. Casey(Missouri State) started and threw seven strong for the Sharks. The right hander allowed three runs on five hits in his seven innings of work. The lack of offensive support runs his record to 2-4. Some support came off the bat of Andrew Guerra(St. Louis) who provided the Sharks offense on the night. The St. Louis Billiken blasted a two run home run to left through a cross wind to cut the Fayetteville lead to one. Guerra finished the night two for three with a double and a walk, making him six for his last seven at bats.Kyle Smith(Central Missouri)pitched two innings of scoreless relief. The righty gave up three hits but induced a huge double play ball to keep the Sharks down only one in the ninth. The Sharks will be on the road until next Thursday, taking on Florence for the final Thirsty Thursday of the year out at the "Shark Tank." The game starts at 7 p.m. with the gates opening at 6 p.m. enjoy dollar beers and dollar soft drinks all night long. The Wilmington Sharks are members of the summer collegiate Coastal Plain League, the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. In 2008 the Sharks drew more than 50,000 fans to the “Shark Tank” for an average of 1,650 per game.
