With the field conditions deemed unsafe for play the Sharks scheduled matchup with the Wilson Tobs was postponed Saturday night. Fans didn't leave "the Tank" without a show however as the Wilmington squad took part in a special home run derby.

With fans still in the stands and no rain in sight as the game was called it was time to dig into the baseball bag of tricks for some special entertainment Saturday night. A number of Sharks from regulars to pitchers to coaches stepped up to the plate at Buck Hardee to take thier cuts.

Bobby Leeper(UNC-Wilmington) got off to a fast start in the first round blasting four home runs that would carry him all the way to the final round. Neal Pritchard(Elon) was the only other Shark to hit more than one out of the Tank as he launched three into the Wilmington night.

Down to his last out in the finals Pritchard forced Leeper's hand sending a shot out to left center. But Leeper was not to be held down long, back to back jacks with no outs to his credit gave him the victory on the improvised night of Sharks baseball.

After the derby day break, the Sharks travel to Columbia to take on the Blowfish. At 5pm the Sharks and Fish will pick up in the bottom of the 4th of a 1-1 tie game that was suspended on July 4th. Afer that the regularly scheduled game will be a seven inning contest at Capitol City Stadium.
