Two hits produced two runs in the second inning for the Sharks Satuday night, but that was the extent of the offense as the final 16 batters went down in order to three Fayetteville pitchers.
With two down Cole Rakar(College of Charleston) singled then stole second. Trevor Willis(Iowa) then lofted a fly ball to center that found the turf and gave the Sharks a 1-0 lead.
The Swampdogs tied things in the 5th off of starter J.C. Casey(Missouri State) and would pick up an unearned run off of Ryan McGrath(Wake Forest) in the ninth to steal the 2-1 win.
Reliever Chris Kennedy(Davidson) threw three strong innings of middle relief holding the Swampdogs to one hit. Casey finished his first CPL start after four and two thirds with six strike outs.
The Sharks next home game is Monday, June 1st at the "Shark Tank." It's the first Mother's monday of the season. Kids eat free and adults get all you can eat for just $10. The action starts when the gates open at 6 p.m. with first pitch set for 7.
