Highlights Abound as Sharks Beat 'Fish Print E-mail
Friday, 05 June 2009 17:23

A complete game from starter J.C. Casey(Missouri State) and 15 hits for the Sharks turned into a 7-1 win for the Sharks over the Columbia Blowfish Friday night.

It was the Sharks bats getting started early with two runs in the first. Singles from Ben Kline(Nebraska), Adam Eggemeyer(SIU-Edwardsville) and Jesse Bosnik(St. Bonaventure) loaded the bases. With two down Greg Bachman(Austin Peay) notched his first of two RBI on the night by working a walk. Adam Gray(Mercyhurst) would then get his big night started with his first of three singles, to drive in the first of his three runs and give the Sharks a 2-0 lead.

While Wilmington would add one in the third, two in the fifth and single runs in the sixth and seventh, two would prove to be enough as Casey cruised through nine.
The Missouri State righty spread three hits and five strike outs over his nine innings. An error opened the door to the end of the shut out in the seventh, but Casey secured the last six outs to pick up his first win of the season.

Gray would finish the night 3-3 at the plate with three RBI. Kline kept things rolling in the number two slot reaching base four times, scoring twice. The Sharks 15 hits on the night stands as a season best.
