Final Game in Columbia a Loss for the Sharks Print E-mail
Monday, 04 August 2008 16:17

Matt Freeman(Nebraska) threw seven innings but the Sharks could not strike for more than one off Blowfish pitching as they fell 5-1.

Freeman finished the season strong in his last '08 CPL start going seven full, striking out five allowing those five runs. It was a three run sixth that ended up hurting Freeman, dropping his record to 2-5 on the season.

Wilmington picked up a run early off the bat of Cory Lyda(Prebyterian). Hunter Owen(Milsaps) laced a lead off single in the fourth. A stolen base put Owen on second then came all the way around to score on the Lyda single. That was it for the Sharks as they would muster only four hits all night off of three Columbia pitchers.

The Sharks will travel to Florence for the 08 Coastal Plain League finale Tuesday night.
