FLORENCE, S.C.---The Wilmington Sharks and Florence RedWolves picked up baseball in the sixth inning Saturday night in Florence, resuming a suspended game from July 9 with the score tied at 3-3. The RedWolves jumped on Sharks pitcher Justin Somers to score six runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 9-3 lead and would win the game by that margin. Florence sent 11 men to the plate in the bottom of the sixth, scoring six times. Somers (L, 1-2) only managed one out on a strikeout while walking four in the inning and allowed three base hits, including RBI singles to John Frost and Mac Doyle. All four of the walks would score runs as they came with the bases loaded. The inning mercifully ended when Matt Parish, who relieved Somers, got Austin Smetana to hit into a 4-3 double play. |
