Doubleheaders scheduled for later this month

The Wilmington Sharks of the Coastal Plain League (CPL) have announced that the Sharks doubleheader in Florence tonight has been postponed due to inclement weather.

The Sharks and RedWolves will now play two different doubleheaders, first on Monday, July 25 in Wilmington, and then on Friday, July 29 the two teams will play two in Florence. Both game times are now set for 6:05 starts.

The Sharks have only played twice this week, hosting Florence on Sunday night and hosting Morehead City Thursday night, but have seen three road games now postponed due to rain, including against Florence on Tuesday night which caused tonight’s scheduled doubleheader.

Wilmington will attempt to get back on the field tomorrow night when they travel to Columbia. Sunday they visit Morehead City before ending the short road trip with a doubleheader in Fayetteville to make-up last Wednesday’s game against the Swampdogs that was postponed.

The Sharks return home on Tuesday night as they host Fayetteville in the first of four straight home games inside the Shark Tank. Tuesday’s game is a Time Warner Cable Two ‘fer Tuesday with two-for-one admission and hot dogs as well as $2 beverages, while it will also be Allegiant Air Pack Your Bags Night where two lucky fans will receive airline tickets.

The Wilmington Sharks are members of Coastal Plain League, the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league.  Celebrating its 15th season, The Coastal Plain League features 15 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.  The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats.  Players are housed with local host families for the summer.  The CPL has had over 700 alumni drafted and 35 alums make their Major League debut thus far.  For more information on the Coastal Plain League, please visit the league website at www.coastalplain.com.
