WILMINGTON, N.C. – Wilmington Sharks closer Patrick Mincey has been chosen to play for the American Team  in the 2010 CPL All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 20 in Forest City, N.C.

Mincey, a junior out of Francis Marion, has made 13 appearances this season, allowing only 11 hits and one earned run for a 0.40 ERA. He has 31 strikeouts to only five walks and has converted all six save opportunities this season, which is fifth in the CPL.

“It’s an honor to be an All-Star and I’m excited to go,” Mincey said.

Mincey said his best outing was on July 6 against Florence where he pitched four innings of extra-inning relief, striking out eight as the Sharks went on to win 5-4 in 13 innings.

“I’ve been throwing really well this summer. I’ve gotten up to high 80’s, low 90’s with my pitches,” Mincey said.

The American team will be coached by Russell Carter of the Florence RedWolves and assisted by Jeff Steele of the Wilson Tobs. Monday, July 19 is the date of the CPL All-Star Fan Fest at 5:00 p.m., which will include an autograph session, team workouts, the CPL Home Run Derby and then a free concert by Rocky Yelton and the Hired Guns. Tuesday, July 20 will feature the 15th Annual CPL All-Star Game at 7:05 p.m., followed by a post-game award ceremony and fireworks.
