WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Wilmington Sharks took advantage of some timely hitting and errors to build an early lead over the Catawba Valley Stars and then held off several late threats to get the 5-4 win. The non-league win brings the Sharks to 3-4 on the season while the Stars drop to 5-2 overall. After struggling to score runs so far this season, the Sharks wasted no time getting on the board. A throwing error by the Stars Matt Vanni off a Kenny Bryant infield single scored Aaron Miller from second. The Sharks struck again in the second when Richie Allen got himself in a rundown between first and second, allowing Matt Willis to score from third to give the Sharks a 2-0 lead.
