Daniel Cropper(UNC-Wilmington) turned in his third stellar performace of the year but came up with nothing to show for it as the Sharks fall 6-4 in ten innings to the Fayetteville Swampdogs.
Jesse Bosnik(St. Bonaventure) drove in a run in both the first and the fifth to stake Cropper a 2-0 lead. The Seahawk righty made it stand up through seven innings of two hit ball. He fanned a season high ten batters to take his team lead up to 24.
Things would unravel though as the first two runners reached off of reliever Ryan McGrath(Wake Forrest). Then with two down and runners on second and third a wide throw to first on a grounder to third brought home two, eventually sending things to an extra frame.

There were few throughout the season who would argue that the Wilmington Sharks brought together a dug out full of great baseball talent from around the country. Though, the results do suggest that there was just something that didn't connect.
The club ran out of the gates nipping at first place, and closed the season with wins in six of eight. In between there were struggles. While that takes away from post season thrills, it should still take nothing away from what these young men brought to the field each and every night and the passion with which they played the game, no matter the summer's ups and downs.
From a stalwart pitching staff, to solid defense and hitting that came and went, the Sharks showed up to play, and put on a show more often than night on this season of 2009.

An RBI single from Adam Gray(Mercyhurst) gave the Sharks a 2-1 lead and a three run home run from Adam Eggemeyer(SIU-Edwardsville) put the game out of reach as the Sharks beat Florence 8-2.
For the fourth straight night the Sharks tallied double digit hits, racking up 11 in Florence Saturday. Gray led the way with his second straight three hit night. It was a pitchers duel until Eggemeyer found the other side of the right field fence for his first home run of the season. He would end the game 2-5 with the three RBI.
In his first CPL start of the season Max Friedman(Parkland C.C.) picked up his first win, giving up just one run over six innings, scattering five hits. He punched out six Redwolves in his Wilmington debut as the Sharks roll to 5-5.

The Wilmington Sharks of the Coastal Plain League (CPL) announced they are teaming up with the US Marine Corps in their annual toy drive, Toys for Tots.
The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.
The Sharks have partnered with Wilmington Orthopaedic Group as a drop off location for the Toys for Tots Program. Those wanting to donate an unwrapped toy may do so by stopping by Wilmington Orthopaedic’s office located at 2716 Ashton Drive, Wilmington, NC 28412. The Sharks will also be giving a free general admission ticket good for any regular season home game during the 2012 season to those who drop off a toy. The Sharks will begin accepting donations Monday, November 14th.
“Toys for Tots toy drive is an outstanding program and a campaign we wanted to be a part of,” said Andrew Aguilar, general manager of the Sharks. “In exchange for a donated toy, you will receive a ticket to a Sharks game during the 2012 season. This is our way of saying thank you to those who will be helping the less fortunate and put a smile on the faces of the children who might not otherwise have something to open this holiday season.”
The Wilmington Sharks are members of Coastal Plain League, the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Preparing for its 16th season, The Coastal Plain League features 15 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer. The CPL has had over 930 alumni drafted and 45 alums make their Major League debut thus far.
