Sharks suffer second loss Print E-mail

The Wilmington Sharks dropped their second strait game on Tuesday night to fall to 2-2.  Following a brief rain delay the Florence Red Wolves were able to put together some timely hitting and strong pitching to leave Buck Hardee Field a 5-2 winner.  Following the loss the Sharks are now sitting in third place in the Coastal Plain South Division.  The team will enjoy an off day on Wednesday and then start a two game set against arch rival and division leader, The Fayettville Swampdogs.

Thursday night is our "Party in the Park" so come out early and enjoy $1.00 draft beer and sodas.  Gates will open 1 hour earlier than normal at 5:00p.m. to celebrate the Surf 98.3 Traveling Thirsty Thursday's.
Sharks 6 Game Win Streak Snapped By Blowfish Print E-mail

Wilmington Sharks pitchers Alex MacKenzie, Kevin Light, and Eric McGough combined on a solid 9 innings of work, but the offense failed to produce, as the Sharks 6 game winning streak (dating back to the 2006 season) was snapped in a 2-0 decision.


The Sharks are at home tonight against division rival FlorenceBrevard College’s Seth Laughter gets the nod for the Sharks. Game time is set for 7:05.

Big Sixth lifts Sharks over Rats Print E-mail

mackenzie-alex.jpgSeth Frankoff struck out 12 through 6 innings of work, keeping the Rats down long enough for the Sharks to explode in the 7th.  Alex MacKenzie earned the save with a 3 inning, 4 strikeout performance. The Sharks exploded in the sixth to plate 7 runs. 

The Sharks take on the Columbia Blowfish tonight in Columbia, SC.  Longwood University left-hander Kevin Light gets the nod on the hill for the 2-0 Sharks.

UNCW Seahawk Gets Nod For Sharks Home Opener Print E-mail

frankoff-seth.jpg UNCW Seahawk, Seth Frankoff, will start on the mound for the Sharks in their home opener.  Game time is set for 7:05.  The game will be followed by a fireworks extravaganza.

Frankoff posted a 1-1 record in 10 appearances, while striking out 19 in 19.2 innings for the Seahawks.
