We would like to thank you for making 2008 the best season in Sharks history. This year featured an exciting atmosphere and a new attitude at the Shark Tank. Over 50,000 fans attended a Sharks game in 2008 for an average of 1,650 a night! We had three crowds of over 3,000 fans and one of our best crowds in history with nearly 3,500 in attendance on July 31st.
Although the team fell short of the playoffs, the Sharks posted an impressive 16-10 record at the Shark Tank. The 2008 Sharks featured four Coastal Plain League All-Stars. One of which was hometown hero Bobby Leeper (UNCW). He led the Sharks in both homeruns and batting average, hitting an impressive .317 on the season. Fellow All-Star and Bryant Gaines (UNC) hurled three complete games at the Shark Tank on his way to a 5-2 record and 1.70 ERA. The Sharks promise that 2009 will be the biggest and best year yet. We are busy this fall planning several improvements to enhance the fan experience at the Shark Tank. We are also working diligently on putting together the best possible roster to compete for next years Petitt Cup. We would love to hear from you over the off-season.
