Even as the “Shark Tank” at Buck Hardee Field began to take its season form over the past few weeks there still seemed to be something missing. That final piece fell into place Monday morning as Head Coach Jake Tenhouse led the 2009 Sharks through their first workout.
It was the familiar crack of bat on ball and slap of ball to leather that brought the “Shark Tank” buzzing. One bat in particular sparked most of the buzz during Monday’s workout. Left-handed outfielder Adam Eggemeyer decided to play pepper with the roof of the Sharks locker room, launching balls deep beyond the right field fence during batting practice. It wasn’t all hitting as Sharks pitchers took some of their first tosses in the bull pen at the “Shark Tank” as well.
It will be one more day of workout’s Tuesday as the team puts in its final tune-up. Then it’s onto the long road to Thomasville to kick off the season against the Hi-Toms. The Sharks split two games with Thomasville last season, taking a win at home and a loss while visiting Finch Field.
